We can all agree that our pets play a really important part of our lives. Most of us give them as much love and affection as we give to our children (some even more so..)
If you've been in the pet scene for a while, you definitely would've heard the saying, “Adopt don’t shop”.
It’s uplifting to see how pet owners and lovers preach the benefits of adopting over buying an animal from a pet store. You get to save an animal from being put down and introduce it into a loving home, et cetera, et cetera. You want the best life possible for your new ‘child’. You buy the best food for your pet, the best toys for them to play with…
…but do you think of their safety?
Insurance Isn't Just For Humans
Many owners actually assume that once their new pet reaches the safety of their new home, nothing untoward will happen to them. Not true. Unfortunately, plenty can go wrong.
Yes, this is a sales pitch for insurance. But bear with us; we have a point to make here.
CIMB My Paw Pal is a comprehensive protection plan against accidents and critical illnesses for your dog and cat. In the event of the accidental death of your pet, you're insured for S$1,500, with up to S$300 for its cremation or burial. For medical expenses due to an accident, you're covered for up to S$3,000 per year.
But wait… there’s more. There are no medical examinations required for your pet before you can begin your policy plan. So, you don’t have to wait in line at the vet for unnecessary medical check-ups. You’re even insured against unlikely events, like up to S$250,000 against legal liability to third parties and the loss of your dog due to theft of up to S$1,500.
In order to be eligible for the plan, your furball must be between 12 weeks and 7 years of age, microchipped and reside within Singapore. It can't be a racehorse, police animal or guard dog (though if it is a dog, it must be licensed with the Animal and Veterinary Service (AVS).)**
**Do note that this plan only covers cats and dogs at present. Unfortunately, your pet lizards and spiders are going to have to wait. We’ll let you know as soon as that changes.
